About Us
Any visit to Ayrshire should include a trip to the picturesque village of Symington where the Wheatsheaf Inn is situated.
The Inn is a charming 15th century building with a wonderful olde-worlde atmosphere. A hostelry has been here since the 1700's and in the days of stage coaches the inn was an important posting stage. For the last 20 years it has been run by the father, son and daughter team of Milton, Martin and Marnie Thompson who offer their customers an extensive menu of dishes prepared with care and imagination. A typical menu lists more than a dozen starters, (how about Haggis, Neeps and Tatties in Drambuie and Onion Cream?) A wide choice of fish, meat, poultry and vegetarian dishes and a large selection of home made sweets. An outstanding choice of wines are available to compliment your meal. In good weather, you can enjoy your meal in the superb beer garden which is also the only one for miles around.
